There’s More to Quality Tapware Than Design

12 March 2015

Tapware has come a long way in the last ten years

Not only do you have the choice of cross handles, knobs, lever handles or mixers, but they come in a wide range of styles. Taps also can come with ceramic disc cartridges which give you a smoother operation and prevent leaking. Most quality tapware is made predominantly from dezincification resistant (or corrosion resistant) brass with a chrome external finish.

In Australia, tapware must also be rated through the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards scheme and certified through the WaterMark Certification Scheme, otherwise a plumber cannot install them. The WaterMark certification means the product meets the minimum standards for use in Australia and complies with local plumbing codes.

While chrome remains extremely popular for tapware, there are a range of finishes from some of our suppliers which will really give your bathroom a new dimension. Some of our favourites include aged brass, nickel, copper, matt black, and the popular brushed platinum.

If you’re renovating, it’s an ideal time to think about changing to basin and shower mixers, or having your basin tapware coming off the wall to give it a contemporary look.

Whether you’re after traditional, art deco, simple or ultra-modern, we can help you find the right tapware for your new bathroom, kitchen or laundry.
