This provides an extremely pure and high-performance coating. Solid metal is vaporised in a high vacuum environment using a reactive gas such as nitrogen, oxygen or a hydrocarbon-based gas. The metallic vapor chemically reacts with the gas, and the vapour compound generated is deposited on electrically conductive materials as a pure metal or alloy coating. The PVD process provides a uniform deposit and is a more permanent and consistent finish.
