A Bathroom Design that is Contemporary, Luxurious and Tranquil

The owners of this modern home in Connolly wanted to renovate their master ensuite to update it into a luxurious and contemporary space. With a large open doorway, framed by pillars, the 2200mm vanity is a focal point from the master bedroom, so it was important to the clients that this be beautiful and serene.

In addition to the full wall length vanity, the design brief included creating a larger shower recess and for the space to generate feelings of tranquillity and calmness.

One of the design challenges was how to incorporate the classical pillars and entrance into a contemporary design. Rather than removing them, they were used to establish the basis for the fluted effect on the vanity cabinetry, as well as the cylindrical shapes of the mirrors and feature feather tile. Two custom-made stone countertop basins in matt white also add to the overall effect of curved forms and luxury.

The colour palette was kept neutral with light grey floor tiles that have subtle movement, and rectified and feather feature tiles in matt white. The soft finishes of the tiles, vanity cabinetry and brushed nickel finish of tapware work together to create a subdued tone for the space.
